27.06.2009: Emanuele Gaudiano wins jumping over 1,40m

Young Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano had participated for the first time in an European Youngster Cup competition and was able to win first time! In today's European Youngster Cup competition of the S* category, the fast Italian showed his fellow competitors where to go: with a splendid time, he virtually sailed over the 1.40 course on his only 7-year old Holstein gelding Chicago. Each turn, each distance seemed to fit and, in the end, he came through with a wonderful time of 64.92 seconds that nobody was able to match. The one rider who came closest was the still leading rider of the series, S* category, Carina Hindelang (GER) on her 11-year old Almox Prints daughter Promi Model. Despite a very professionally ridden round, however, she remained almost 4 seconds behind the Italian speed master but had still almost one second over the third placed rider, Maximilian Schmid (GER) on Cuckoo.

Once more, from an Austrian viewpoint, the "Tyrolean Connection""  made up of Theresa Widauer and Christoph Obernauer stood out. The bubbly Tyrol-based Widauer placed 4th on her 13-year old mount Laguna Bay and 6th with the gelding Kleo's Quicksilver who is only 7-years old. Christoph Obernauer, riding the 8-year old Looping offspring Landiego, placed 5th.
